From Tasty food to the National Gallery

Today, for our travel writing class assignment, our teacher took us to the busy streets of Covent Garden Market; this is where we were given the role of being food critics for the day. So, as we wandered through the market trying to find something to eat, we were in a place where the air was filled with smells that ranged from freshly baked pastries to street food and spices. Each stall offered a different food experience, from cheeses to gourmet chocolates. Our task for today was to pick a place to eat and take detailed notes on the flavors, the presentation, and our overall impressions of the food and place we picked.

My friends and I had finally decided to eat at Bun Buns, its a cute little spot just off the west entrance of Covent Garden Market. Bun Buns open Sunday through Thursday from 9 AM to 11:30 PM and Friday and Saturday from 9 AM to 12 PM, it was the perfect place for us to have our lunch. Prices ranged from about 10-20 pounds. We ordered our food and we all got a variety of things but I in particular got the steamed chicken buns,  they had  came with fresh lettuce and some creamy mayo. The service at this place  was impressively quick, and we didn’t have to wait long for our food to arrive. The buns were delicious, with a crispy chicken that wasn’t all bread. Overall, I’d say It was a fantastic dining experience that left us wanting to come back for more.

After our amazing lunch, we headed a few blocks down from Covent Garden to Udderlicious to get some ice cream before our visit to the National Gallery. I chose to get the banana caramel flavor, and it was so yummy, just like banana pudding. This cute ice cream shop, open from 11 AM to 11 PM, offers a range of delicious flavors and at affordable prices, ranging from just 1 to 10 pounds. It was the perfect sweet treat to round off our meal and put my friends and I in a good mood for our field trip to the gallery.

We walked to the the National Art Gallery and it was an incredible experience. We had seen paintings by famous artists like Van Gogh, Michelangelo, Da Vinci, and Picasso. Seeing their artworks in person was absolutely so amazing and so surreal. I was amazed by all of Van Gogh’s colorful paintings and Michelangelo’s amazing art work. Seeing Da Vinci’s detailed artwork and Picasso’s creative style of drawing were so impressive to me. Its like you learn about these paintings all your life and thinking you’ll never see them just for them to be displayed in this free exhibit where everyone can see. To me It felt like a once in a lifetime experience to see these amazing art work up close. No, literally I could touch them if I leaned in just a little more. This experience made me realize how powerful and impactful art can be in telling stories.

Exploring Covent Garden, enjoying the amazing food at Bun Buns, tasting ice cream at Udderlicious, and seeing all the famous art at the National Gallery all in one day was so amazing. From the busy market to the peaceful galleries, each moment was exciting and a surreal experience. Being able to see Van Gogh, Michelangelo, Da Vinci, and Picasso’s artwork up close was absolutely  breathtaking. Today was a day of trying new foods, appreciating art, and making great memories with friends. This day just reminded me of how amazing life can be, full of beauty whether that’s from art, seeing historic buildings, or seeing my friends having a good time I ve learned that these are the  exciting experiences that I’ll remember forever.
